Hi everyone
This post ended up pretty long but please read, it tells you what is going on with me now.
I have been having some health issues and have not been working on any paper models.
I hope to do some soon but we will see how it goes.
One thing I have been able to do is work on short films with my friend and former classmate Dale.
He is on the west coast and I am in South Dakota where we both grew up.
We have taken part in some 48 hour film contest where your team has 48 hours to make a 4-8 min film with a randomly selected genre and three required elements given to the team on Friday night. Then you have to turn it in Sunday afternoon to be shown and judged on Sunday night.
Other film contest we have taken part in are Be Kind Rewind Festivals. It showcases Sweded Films made by local creators. A Sweded film is a 4-8 minute remake of a popular film. The more clever and lo-fi the better. Google "Sweded Film" for samples. To really get a good education watch "Be Kind Rewind", a movie starring Jack Black and Mos Def.
We have been lucky with some of our films winning awards and some being picked to be shown at the South Dakota Film Festival held in Aberdeen South Dakota in September.
I have not been very good at keeping up my blog because of the health issues but I spent this Saturday going through this blog and finding links to other sites or photo albums that don't work any more and taking them off.
So as of today any link you pick on this blog is good to the site that is listed. Some sites have not been updated for years so their links in their site may not work.
In the last film contest we took part in on April 1st 2023 was a Be Kind Rewind Festival. I had been working on the 3D drawing program SketchUp Make working on a drawing of the Lunar Module for what I had hoped would be a Sweded film of Apollo 13. I had been sending Dale rough drawings of the LEM as I was drawing it so he could see the progress I was making. Dale also was given as gifts some of my rockets and spacecrafts. So he had photos of my 1/48 scale model of the Apollo Command/Service moduule. For the fun of it he was adding special effets to the pictures of the CM/SM and the LEM and making short videos with flames out of thusters and rockets.
Time was running out for us to get the Apollo 13 film we had been hoping for, so I just thought lets just add all the rough videos we had been working on and add a few other scenes with the Saturn 5 rocket and the 3rd stage which I had pictures of. So the Friday night March 31st I put all the scenes together and sent them to Dale early Saturday morning where he added all the narration then sent that back to me so I could put on the open slates, music and closing credits.
The film we came out with was "The Last Moon Landing" We are very proud of this film and we have sent a submission to the South Dakota Film Festival hoping it gets picked to be shown this coming September. So wish us luck.
It may be some time before I update this blog. Like I said we will see how I am doing.
All of mine and Dales films can be found on my Youtube channel JMS Films Aberdeen.

Thank you for putting up with my rambling.
Have a great day and make something....
